Description

ANOTHER MAN'S LIFE depicts the reality of Vietnam wartime atrocities intertwined with the guilt that still threatens innocent lives more than three decades later. The story follows the life of EDEN CAIN, a man tormented by his disturbing past. From a young soldier to a middle-aged father and husband, his life is one of unplanned atonement for the horrific wrongs he was ordered to commit during the war. ANOTHER MAN'S LIFE is the sensitive story of a man with a secret, a secret that threatens the presidency, both past and future. A secret with consequences greater than death, it is a secret of betrayal.

"Another Man's Life" is a gripping tension-builder that starts off strong and just continues to escalate. Eden Cain is a small-town everyman with a terrible secret. He has struggled to come to terms with events that he was part of in Vietnam - events that were authorized by the President, kept secret from the public and which are now coming to light thanks to a Grand Jury investigation.Eden is terrorized by one memory in particular, and now, decades later and summoned to testify against the same government that he had sworn to obey and to lie for, Eden's past is about to become public knowledge. Faced with the immensity of what he has done and horrified by how the revelations will affect his loved ones, Eden contemplates his own suicide and relives all of the moments that have brought him to this point. The story slips back and forth in time between his days in Vietnam and his worsening present situation, but the reader doesn't feel lost in the timeline. There are several surprises that you will never see coming, and one or two that will leave you gasping for breath. The reader can't help but get emotionally invested in Eden's circumstances and although this reviewer refuses to give away the ending, let's just say that the journey in getting there is a rush that you don't often enjoy in fiction. A fast and entertaining read. Highly recommended!(Side Note: Eerily, the events exposed by the investigation in this story came to light in the real world (a few years ago) and although enough time has passed that they are largely ignored, they are no less detestable.)
